ITC

The Investment tax credit (ITC) is a dollar-for-dollar reduction in the income taxes a person or company claiming the credit would otherwise pay the federal government. The ITC is based on the amount of investment in solar property. The ITC is 30% for projects that begin in 2019. The ITC then steps down to 26% for projects that begin 2020 until 2022 the credit will drop to 10%. if not extended.

S.R.E.Cs

Solar Renewable Energy Credits, also known as SRECs, are credits you generate with the energy produced by your solar system. You earn one SREC for every 1,000 kWh (1 Mwh) your solar system produces. You will generate and receive SRECs for a 10-year period starting when your system goes live. An SREC has a useful life of three years, which means that SRECs you generate in 2020 can count towards 2020, 2021, or 2022 periods.

Net Metering

Net Metering is a solar incentive that requires your utility to purchase excess solar electricity that your solar panels produce at the full retail value of electricity. In other words, when your solar panels produce more electricity than your home needs, that excess power will be sent to the power grid. Your utility will then pay you for that power sent to the grid, in the form of energy credits. The credit will equal to the full retail price of electricity.
